QLD Government Grant for Website Development & SEO

As part of the Big Plans for Small Business strategy rolled out by the Queensland Government, a Business Basics grant program has been initiated. Small law firms who meet the criteria for the grant, can use the funds towards web development or SEO services.

The goal of this grant is to enable small businesses based in South East Queensland, or regional Queensland, to receive an upfront fixed grant funding of $5,000 (excluding GST). Successful applicants do not have to co-contribute to this grant; however successful applicants must pay for any related expenses in excess of the $5,000 grant funding.

Applications open soon

There is a small window of opportunity for law firms in South East Queensland or regional Queensland to capitalise on. Applications open on 9am, 4th May 2022 and closes when the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) receives enough applications for a competitive assessment.

Competitive grant

As this is a competitive grant, it is important that law firms who are eligible for this grant are prepared in advance with all the necessary documentation required to apply on 4th May, or as soon as possible. It is likely that there will be many businesses from a range of industries applying, which is why preparation is key to this grant.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this grant, your law firm must:

  • have fewer than 20 employees (by headcount);
  • be operating and have an active Australian Business Number (ABN);
  • be registered for GST;
  • have a Queensland headquarters and an operating address in the relevant funding stream;
  • have an expected turnover of $300,000 or less for the current financial year;
  • not have been approved for funding under an earlier round of Business Basics;
  • have owners/directors that are not undischarged bankrupt; and
  • be solvent

Take note of the local government areas identified in this grant that are eligible for application. Use the eligibility tool  to see if your firm meets the criteria.
